Hack #1: Hook readers in from the beginning. People have low attention spans. If you don’t have a compelling “hook” at the beginning of your blogs, people will click off in seconds. You can hook them in by teasing the benefits of the article (see the intro to this article for example!), telling a story, or stating a common problem that your audience faces.
Hi Kate. Forget about targeting highly competitive keywords. If I was in your position I would focus on high quality photography and telling stories and the stories of your customers. Instagram could do extremely well for you. Consider running a competition where you giveaway a stay, and consider engaging big instagram accounts in your niche to promote you.
Go to local events or Meetup events and connect with bloggers in your industry. An example of an event I run to connect with bloggers and people in the online marketing word is: http://www.meetup.com/Online-Marketing-Sydney/. Make friends first and then try to gain guest posts later. I am not really a fan of websites which are flooded with guest posts one after another; it is the type of thing which Google is just waiting to target.

Many companies selling software have users in different stages namely trial, freemium, and paid users. For some of these companies, they have difficulties converting trial or freemium users into paying customers or making paid customers pay more to get better service or product features aka upselling. Though some may argue that making freemium customers pay for a product or service they’re currently using for free is still upselling.

Once you come up with related keywords and synonyms, you can start using them in your new posts. But there is something else you can do with them: insert them into your already published posts. A simple way to do this is to add new sections to your posts and tweak subheadings. Start with the posts whose content is not likely to go out of date soon and then work on improving the rest.
incredible post and just what i needed! i’m actually kinda new to blogging (my first year coming around) and so far my expertise has been in copy writing/seo copy writing. however link building has become tedious for me. your talk about influencing influencers makes perfect sense, but i find it difficult for my niche. my blog site is made as “gift ideas” and holiday shoppers complete with social networks. i get shares and such from my target audience, but i find that my “influencers” (i.e etsy, red box, vat19, etc.) don’t allow dofollow links and usually can’t find suitable sources. I guess my trouble is just prospecting in general.
What do these stats mean? First, these are from a profile I use that broadly groups types of content into single URLs. This site has over one million URLs, and I find most useful to categorize everything into types of pages (you can do this with filtered profiles in GA, which is probably the topic of another post). You can see the Index page of the site is how most people are entering by far. 22% bounce immediately, meaning something about the home page felt completely wrong for whatever those people were looking for. We’ll examine how to improve that number in future posts. You’ll notice a few popular blog posts have much higher bounce rates. These are the “Miss Untargeted” that are coming to your site for one-off content, but are probably not interested in buying whatever you are selling. It is interesting to note that one blog only has a bounce rate of 50%, indicating there is something about that post that invites people to dig further into your site.
